Michael obtained his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1983 graduating with a 3.7 grade point average in accounting;

Michael sat for and passed the CPA examination in May of 1984;
Michael worked for the international accounting firm Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) for over nine years;
While at Price Waterhouse, his clients included La-Z-Boy Chair Company, Dana Corporation, a privately held benefits consulting firm (which involved his dealing directly with General Motors, AT&T, Chrysler and the Detroit Newspaper Agency), the University of Michigan, Burroughs Corporation (now part of Unisys) and many others;
Michael was also the manager for his office, which included having primary responsibility for recruiting and counseling. As Chair of the Evaluation Committee, he reviewed all staff members' performance and made recommendations for promotions and salary adjustments;
Michael left Price Waterhouse in 1992 to join Phyllis Lemon in selling real estate; since that time, they have combined to produce one of the finest sales records in this market;
Michael volunteers on the Professional Standards Committee (a self-governing body of the local association of realtors that acts in a judge-and-jury-like fashion regarding ethics complaints and arbitration disputes filed against and between realtors) of Western Wayne Oakland County Association of Realtors;
Michael sat for and passed the State of Michigan's Associate Real Estate Broker's examination in December of 1996, and
Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), National Association of Realtors (NAR) , and the Michigan Association of Realtors (MAR).
